Parks

Steamboat Springs like having areas to have events and play in and that is why there are an ample amount of parks and open space within the city limits. In the downtown area, you can enjoy a day at Little Toots Park with the kids and the large playground that the park has to offer. With a great location, next to the library and the Yampa river, it is a local favorite. Howelsen park is full of sporting opportunities with access to tennis courts, baseball diamonds, and volleyball sand pits.  Ski Town Lions Park is a perfect place for a picnic by the river, just off of Yampa street you can bring sandwiches down from your favorite deli to enjoy in the sun at any time of year. If you are looking for a great place to toss a Frisbee and watch the rafters go by, visit Dr. Rich Weiss Park across from the Old Town Hot Springs.

The newest addition to the city’s parks is Workman Park on Yampa Street, which was built in honor of the Yampa river and the Workman homestead. The area is within proximity to local shops and the library and is intended to serve as a nice resting spot by the river for our visitors and residents to enjoy. The Yampa Street Promenade will begin construction this summer to also allow easier river access to our pedestrians. The promenade will provide a large pedestrian walkway with numerous benches and areas to take in the scenery and our beloved Yampa river.
