The 2017 Chili Challenge is on!

Main Street Steamboat and FM Light & Sons Present the 13th Annual Chili Challenge Located adjacent to the Farmers Market on Yampa Street Saturday September 9, 2017. Come down and Sample Chili from Steamboats finest establishments and citizens. Sampler kits are $10 and proceeds benefit Main Street Steamboat and fund our Christmas activities like Light up the Night, Santa’s Study and more. Challenge Awards are also given for the Best Salsa and Cornbread so get in on that sampling too! Listen to music provided by Trevor G Potter and Walt and the ‘ol 37 followed by Worried Men while you stroll thru the market with your ice cold adult beverage. Don’t miss the fun and your chance to vote for your favorite.

The Steamboat Smokehouse entry is Matt’s Red  Brisket Chili  ad Kyle’s Roasted  Pablano Pork Green Chili

Salt & Lime is entering Chef Chad Whitaker’s Smokey Colorado Chili, a hearty Mexican Style Brisket Chili with a smoky twist and a Roasted Tomatillo Style Salsa

Steamboat Brau Haus  entry is All My EX’s Live in Texas  a RED Chili and the famous Braa House Cornbread.

Scratch is entering GangSTA Red Chili and Cannon Bread cornbread

The Cantina is entering it’s Famous Pork Green Chili and House Salsa

Dude and Dan’s entry is always a contender for People’s Choice with Dude’s Smoked Brisket Red Chili and Dan’s Pulled Pork Green Chili. This year they will also enter their Olathe Corn Salsa.

The Steamboat Cattle Women’s entry is Champion Red Chili as the Cattle Women have won the People’s Choice award more than any other group.

Mahogany Ridge is entering their famous Colorado Bison Red Chili

The Tap House is entering Cuban Pork Green Chili

Carl’s is entering their delicious Pork Green Chili

Weekly Construction Update June 5-9, 2017

Highlights, Closures & Delays

• Yampa Street remains CLOSED between 10th to 12th Streets o 11th Street & Yampa Intersection Anticipated to REOPEN on June 9 o 12th Street & Yampa Intersection Planned to CLOSE on June 9

• Minor Shoulder CLOSURES between 5th to 7th Streets on Yampa on June 6-7 (no impact to traffic flow).

• Full Block CLOSURE between 6th to 7th Street on Yampa on June 7 (will reopen ahead of event on June 9)

Weekly Construction Update – May 22-26, 2017

Closures & Delays

• Yampa Street CLOSED between 10th to 12th Streets (expected to run into early June).                                   • Minor Shoulder CLOSURES between 5th to 10th Streets (no impact to traffic flow).                                         • Entire 8th Street Parking Lot CLOSED.                                                                                                                         • 9th Street Pedestrian Bridge CLOSED – NO ACCESS ACROSS THE BRIDGE. Yampa Street Final concrete work was finished and this portion of the project is substantially complete.

Yampa Street between 5th and 10th Streets has been reopened to vehicular traffic and all new sidewalks on these blocks are also open. Phase II continues with a new concrete raised intersection at 11th and Yampa. In addition, crews have completed the concrete pours in front of Steamboat Meat & Seafood and Lockhart Auction.

For the week of May 22, minor shoulder closures will occur in the blocks between 5th and 10th Streets as crews complete punchlist work for Phase I and the installation of the festival lighting system. Yampa Street between the intersections at 10th and 12th Streets remains closed to vehicular traffic for the installation of a new concrete raised intersection at 11th Street.

The 10th and 12th Street intersections will remain open to vehicular traffic. This closure is expected to last until early June.                                                                                                                                                                        • Pedestrian and bicycle access will remain open via the Core Trail in this area; with pedestrians from the north side routed to the Core Trail to safely navigate the work zone.                                                                            • Businesses will remain accessible at all times                                                                                                 • This work is associated with the Yampa Street Phase II improvements which is expected to be completed by November 1, 2017. Also during this week, vehicular traffic will be restricted to one-lane on 10th Street between Yampa and the alley for a period of one day while crews install an electrical line crossing 10th Street.

Bi-Weekly Public Informational Meetings will run every other Friday starting at 9am in Centennial Hall where city staff and contractors share details and answer questions about the status of the project. The next meeting will beheld on Friday, June 2.
