Partners in Preservation: Main Streets Open House

Help us kick off the campaign for the Creative Caboose project during October’s first Friday Art walk at the at the Depot Block Party!

Join local artists and musicians for an interactive art experience featuring a live jam band!
Come check out the historic caboose and hear what Vote Your Mainstreet is all about!


More details on the Creative Caboose Project: 
“Vote your Mainstreet” is a national competition to give Main Street communities around the country access to a share of $2 million dollars of funding for historic preservation! Steamboat Springs is competing against Mainstreets around the country to restore the 1950s caboose that now sits next to the rails it once rode. Once transformed, the structure will be a gateway to Main Street and a studio for a seasonal artist in residence.

Cows, Coal and Commerce: 109 Years of the Moffat Railroad in Steamboat Springs

Catch the train! To help celebrate the Creative Caboose renovation project, the Tread of Pioneers Museum presents:

Cows, Coal, and Commerce: 109 Years of the Moffat Railroad in Steamboat Springs exhibit at the historic Depot Arts Center, home of the Steamboat Springs Arts Council.

Utilizing historic photographs, personal accounts, and artifacts the exhibit outlines the various impacts of the railroad’s arrival in Steamboat Springs. Learn about the birth of the Moffat Road and the man behind its success, shipping livestock, mining coal, and the excitement and enterprise the railroad created in this budding community.
