YAMPA STREET CONSTRUCTION UPDATE:

yampa street closed to VEHICULAR traffic between 7th and 9th streets

and 8th street intersectION Continues Monday, August 29

Steamboat Springs, Colorado — Construction of the Yampa Street Improvements Project began May 23 and will continue the week of August 29. This phase of the project will be entering its fifteenth week of construction and work will be substantially completed by no later than November 24, 2016.

CLOSURE WEEK OF AUGUST 29: Continuing on Monday, August 29, Yampa Street will be closed to vehicular traffic between 9th and 7th Streets, including the 8th Street intersection. The 7th and 9th Street intersections will remain open. As construction of streetscape elements becomes an element of the project, the north side sidewalk on this block of Yampa Street will be closed in front of the Police Station parking lot and the Residences of Old Town Condos.  Due to sidewalk reconstruction, pedestrian access to Yampa Street from 8th Street will be limited. Pedestrians will be safely rerouted to the south side of the street and are encouraged to use 7th Street and 9th Street to access businesses on the south side of Yampa Street. Work will include storm sewer infrastructure, light pole foundations, parking lot paving, street tree preparation, retaining wall and sidewalk construction.

Maintaining access to all businesses is a priority. Signage and wayfinding will continue to be installed during the required closures. For everyone’s safety, we ask visitors, employees and residents to respect all closures and use the designated detours and parking areas.

Shoppers and visitors are reminded that additional nearby parking is available at the 10th and Yampa Street parking lot, Rodeo Grounds parking lot and Howelsen Hill parking lots, with easy access to Yampa Street over the 9th or 5th Street bridges.

Construction work hours are from 7am to 7pm Monday through Thursday and 7am – 5pm on Fridays.

YAMPA STREET PROGRESS UPDATE: During the week of August 22, Duckels Construction was able to install utility conduit for the undergrounding of overhead electric lines and install storm sewer drainage inlets and pipe from 8th to 7th Street.  Completed work during the week also includes preparation for sidewalk and at the 8th Street intersection near the Police Station parking lot.

An unrelated construction project by Fox Construction is nearing completion on private property between 9th and 10th Street.
